Many people also use renoise to make beats and rewire to an other DAW, considering the price of renoise, it's not so bad. Renoise comes with many native effects and also supports plug-ins, like VST, AudioUnits, and LADSPA. Other features it sports are Audio recording tools, a built-in sampler, and a graphical automation enveloper to control the parameters. sequencer (they put my tool in there! they put mine in there! ) It also has a drag and drops feature that lets you move note data from one pattern track to another.

People are making quite stunning tools for it (considering it's only about a coding language and an API, even the software creator didn't have all these ideas). The Phrase Editor is also obviously good, cause you can abstract a phrase to a single note. (dunno if I'm making much sense here).Īlso, you may want to look over the lua scripting engine. In Renoise specifically, Im not diving into any of the Effect Commands yet cause I want to get my fundamentals down first - but the Pattern Sequencer is super cool and I can already tell how useful it is even outside of an electronic context. It brought quite of a good generation of electronic music maker as well, from brothomstates (who switched to other solutions) to ilkae, bogdan, venetian snares, proswell and machinedrum (who's said still using a clone of IT2, a dos tracker).Īll in all, it's a progressive learning curve, it's easy to master basic features as the software is really easy to use but it takes longer to "become a tracker guru" as it's all about "personnal tips" more like just your normal tips&tricks&tutorials that would fit everybody. I'm saying these kind of softwares are really different and allow to learn music making a different way. If not, it depends from one guy to an other.

If you're already used to trackers, I would say it's pretty fast.
